Was first opened in June 2006 by owners Scott Bradley and Jose Alvaro Bonilla. The influence is definitely California as Scott has lived most of his life there, while Alvaro brings in the authentic Tico style that the restaurant offers. Together they have created Lava Lounge bar and grill, with an eclectic mix of fresh ingredients that make some of the most mouthwatering dishes you're sure to encounter in Costa Rica. Scott & Alvaro, the owners goes to every effort to get the best quality fresh ingredients for the foods here at the Lava Lounge. Everything from the fresh fruits and vegetables to the high quality local beef is gotten from local farms right around La Fortuna. If you really want to top the whole thing off with something special, try one of the Guanabana fruit smoothies! I bet you can't say Guanabana five times fast! It may be a real tongue twister to say, but your taste buds are going to love you for it!

While there are lot's of places that sport the name of Lava Lounge there sure aren't many that have anymore of a right to it than the Lava Lounge in La Fortuna, Costa Rica! It has an awesome view of the most active volcano in Costa Rica and a full blown part of the Ring of Fire. The atmosphere is Tropical and rustic and one of those place that gives you those special times that you talk about for years to come. Scott frequently just drops by your table to see if everything is to your liking and give you some history of his recipes. To start with you may wish to try Nachos Cerro Chato, followed by a Lava Lounge burger or an El Este wrap filled with grilled chicken, cabbage and a “TO DIE FOR” ginger-peanut dressing served with papaya chutney, YUM! Daily specials include Coconut Fried Jumbo Shrimp with mango dipping sauce as well as fresh grilled Ahi Tuna. A broad menu with its California flare, Lave Lounge offers a warm and friendly atmosphere so much so, that you will want to move to La Fortuna just to be close to the place.
